Back to Work

- POSTED ON: Jul 02, 2012

I passed out tons of buttons at VidCon 2012, and I enjoyed the experience.
Now I’m home. I’m glad to be here with my husband and my cat, Boodie.
I feel tired, bloated, a bit heavier,  AND motivated to step up my diet and exercise activities. Recently I’ve been overeating, and underexercising mainly because I’ve been directing my attention and energy elsewhere. So, here in my maintenance lifestyle, I need to refocus and shift some of my priorities, moving my food and exercise up on that list, and some of my other activities further down on the list.

Even after all these years, it takes a great deal of effort for me to keep the focus that is necessary for me, personally, to maintain my weight-loss. When my focus shifts, I overeat, and my weight goes up. My lifetime of overeating tendencies and habits have not disappeared, but are always lurking, ready to return during periods of inattention.
There is an inner part of me that says… “just take a bit of time to rest up before diving back into your quest for a better diet and more exercise”… but I’ve learned that a day, turns into several days, into a week, into a month… with resulting upward weights. So it is important for me to face myself immediately. To hold myself accountable for my past overeating, and to focus on immediately following through with making the effort it takes me to eat and exercise in a healthy manner.

So, today, it’s back to work.

welcome home from vidcon 2012 ... I imagine passing out tons of cookies means you also met tons of new people (and were able to reconnect, hopefully, w/some people from last year's vidcon); I hope that it was a happy and fulfilling experience for you :-) we're on the same pg right now ... although I am one who did convince myself to "take some time" before getting back into my diet/exercise routine and have gained back 70% of the 97 lbs I'd lost :-( I love that I can come here and not only be inspired by your words but also motivated by your admirable focus on reality <3 will be thinking of you working hard @ your diet while I'm working hard @ mine!!! my goal today is to stay under 1400 calories and drink @ least 96 oz of fluids ... in order to achieve my goal tmw of posting a wgt loss this week lol wishing you an easy peasy couldn't be any better kind of day :-)

What makes you different than any other "diet guru" is that you are in the trenches with us. Your personal connection is very important within our support system. BTW -- where did you get that plaque? I want it!!

Thanks, Selkie. I'm just another flawed-human-being working hard to maintain a large weight-loss. I believe that each of us has to travel our own path and find our own way, and that we each have to find what works for us individually. Love it -- a choice, not a mistake, great message. =D
