Hope

Today I choose to be Hopeful
about the difficulties in my life.

You can choose to join me in doing this.

Wisdom from a member of a forum I frequent:

Situations don't MAKE us eat,
stress doesn't make us eat,
being exposed to certain foods doesn't make us eat, etc.

They all increase the DESIRE to eat even when there is no true hunger.
It would be nice to be able to avoid situations that make us desire food,
but good luck.

Just having the desire doesn't make us eat, either,
anymore than feeling the urge to urinate makes us relieve ourselves
as soon as we feel it. And just because relieving themselves
(after waiting until an appropriate time and place) feels good,
most people don't purposely drink more and more
just so that they can feel that good feeling again. “

LOL...I enjoyed this post myself.... And I find it instructive that we can keep from eating stuff we might see at other people's houses or on their desk at work....We don't say that we have to grab their food! I started to say and also at the grocery store, but that is probably why they have all those little old ladies pushing their samples...they know some folks think it is impossible to say no to anything they are exposed to!

TexArk, I have to admit that tasting Grocery store samples is one of my weakest areas. It isn't even like they are unavoidable. More like I run down any cart in my path to the "free" food table...and somtimes make more than one visit there. Because of this, I usually schedule my Costco visits right at 10 a.m. so I can shop before the samples are out. I successfully resist similiar and BETTER food in my own home...but find something very alluring about those samples.

I have a senior friend who will schedule her trips to Sam's Club with her husband on Saturday and they enjoy all the samples and call it "lunch." I guess on NoS we would call that virtual plating, but it is also an S Day!

TexArk, If I find an eating event almost "irrestible", I, too, work to figure out how to make it fit into my eating plan.
