Insanity

- POSTED ON: Mar 19, 2014

By this definition, I am clearly insane.

Today is Day One of an experiment involving a rather extreme food plan which, in the past, proved to be unsuccessful for me.

I've made a few changes, individualizing it a bit, but the main thing that is really different is my current mindset. Perhaps that will be enough to provide me with positive results.

No diet is for everyone, but every diet works for someone. If I find it effective, sometime this year I'll post more details.

I can understand that and see your point, so I look forward to what you will discover this time around. I recently realized that I will go back to a workout plan I loved doing and feeling stronger in mind and just "sick and tired of being sick and tired" and "hungry" for greatness, that I visualize myself exactly where I want to be and can taste it!! So I am pumped and enjoying my journey in many areas that I am determined to improve, and that is the key right Granny, to enjoy the journey; "love what you do and do what you love", in everything is what works for me!!!

Hi Dr. Collins! Thank you for posting on my Facebook page and commenting on my check in thread over at the No S forums! You are such an amazing and wonderful example of long term weight maintenance ! If you can track your calories for almost a decade, I can track my bites! :) I've been doing research on the science of Weight Maintenance and you are so right, it takes effort and day in and day out "habits" of tracking ect.

Hi herbsgirl, What a coincidence, I'm finding your steadfastness in Counting bites with No S and your weight-loss to be a wonderful example as well. I plan to always continue tracking my food in a computer program that provides calorie information to me, and watching my calorie totals closely, however, this past week I also decided to try counting bites again as well. I'm interested to see how that will work out for me.

Keep me updated how it goes for you! So you are counting your bites, and then just entering in your calories you consume? Do you have a bite goal or a calorie goal? Or both? :) I know you mentioned that you had tried alot of different diets before, wasnt sure if you had tried the bite counting before, because I know that 80 bites program has been around for several years. I also read on here that you found Intuitive Eating to not be successful for you. I also found that to be true. It took too much mental energy to worry constantly about wether I was hungry or full, it would be very difficult for anyone to keep up Intuitive Eating for life! YOu have so much wisdom and nice articles on here! I have been devouring and reading it! I want to start my own Weight Maitnenance Jouranl soon, and put sayings and articles in it to help me so I can go back and read for encouragment later.

Thank you, herbsgirl, Here at DietHobby I post weight status updates a few times a year, and discuss things I'm interested in, or have experimented with. My current experiment was actually inspired by watching your No S posts, and your Bite Counting blog. I first tried counting bites around 1978, after reading an article similar to the one you linked in your blog. I used one of those mechanical counters trying for 50 bites a day, but had very little success. In 2009 I tried the 5-bite diet. I did a Diet Review here at DietHobby about that. Recently I decided to try it again - with a few modifications. I'll discuss this more with you privately if you'd like. I am still continuing to track all of my food by using the food journal, DietHobby, which provides me with calorie counts. In addition, I am presently counting and tracking the number of my bites to see how that will work for me. I'm really pleased to hear that you are finding my postings here at DietHobby to be helpful.
