Saying Nothing
- POSTED ON: Mar 25, 2012

Somedays,

I think about myself, my weight-loss  and maintenance efforts,
and what I need to change, and what I need to continue doing,
and I find that I have nothing that I want to say.

Today is one of those days.

Self-Talk
- POSTED ON: Mar 15, 2012

The way that I talk to myself can be helpful or hurtful.
Positive self-talk helps me reach goals.
Negative self-talk holds me back and drags me down.

I can choose to be kind to myself
through everything that I experience.

If you had a friend who talked to you
like you sometimes talk to yourself,
would you continue to hang around with that person?

Be Right or Be Kind?
- POSTED ON: Mar 13, 2012

Following that saying in the video above isn't always easy,
but it's something to work toward.

Resentment thrives when we're not willing
to end a disagreement or overlook a slight
by putting forth an offering of kindness, love and forgiveness.

It's often hard to disregard the ego's need to be right,
and to extend kindness by letting go of anger.
But, each one of us can be the one seeking a way to give,
rather than the one looking for something to get.

Regardless of what others around us are doing,
ultimately, we'll feel better if we let go of resentments,
and extend love to the others around us.

Managing Depression
- POSTED ON: Mar 10, 2012

This is my most recent "Ask Grandma" video,
which was made for my DietHobby, youtube channel,
however I'm also featuring it here, because
depression is very relevant in matters of
weight-loss and weight-maintenance.

Being fat tends to feel depressing.
Feeling depressed encourages us to make
bad diet and exercise choices,
even though better eating choices,
and exercise can help to raise depressed feelings.

We can't make ourselves happy every minute,
but there are things we can do to manage depression.

Yes and No

It's important to know what to say "yes" to,
and what to say "no" to.
